Divisional commander of LeT outfit was killed in an encounter with police and security forces in Bandipora this morning.
Acting on a specific information about the presence of militants in Para Mohallah, Hajin locality of Bandipora district, Bandipora police along with 13-RR and 45 BN CRPF cordoned off area and launched the search operation. The hiding militant opened fire on the joint search party, triggering an encounter. The encounter ended with the killing a militant. He was identified as Abu Musaib resident of Pakistan. Musaib reportedly a nephew of Zaki Rehman Lakhvi, LeT operational chief of Pakistan was functioning as self style Divisional commander of L e T.
01 AK-56, 66 rounds, 03 Magazines, 01 radio set and 03 grenades were recovered from the encounter site.
The slain militant was active in Bandipora and Ganderbal areas since August 2015 and was involved in many militancy related activities which included weapon snatching of an army personnel of 14-RR in Bandipora In October 2015.
In 2016 he was involved in injuring a civilian at Hajin, and firing on the Army patrol of 13-RR in which two army personnel were killed. He played an active role in organizing the Fidayeen attack on August 15 2016 at Nowhatta in Srinagar.
